Terenzo Bozzone and more

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

So I mentioned in an earlier post that Terenzo Bozzone was coming to my local triathlon team store.  He was coming to do some Q&A and also to raise money for one of his charities which was pretty cool.  They raffled off some cool items including gift certificates, Zipp wheels and more.

If you do not know who Terenzo is you will know after this year's Kona World Championship.  This year already he has won the Texas 70.3 /US Pro Champs, St. Croix 70.3 and came in second in numerous other races including ironman New Zealand and most recently 2nd at Rev 3 (Quassy) to Craig Alexander.  Terenzo was a class act and spent time answering tons of questions and giving insight into his training and work ethics.  Really down to earth guy.  I was able to snag an autograph photo, a free fuel belt bottle (His sponsor), a new Felt T-Shirt (his sponsor and bike he uses) which I was pumped about since I have a felt :).

His sponsors are Felt

Free Wheels given away

Some other items I got

Also this week my items started to arrive!

New Sneakers
Finally found my sneakers brand new on ebay and was able to order a pair...I would have ordered more but they only had one in my size.  Just ran in them today for the first time and will continue to break them in for Rhode Island on July 11th.

My new Phone Arrive

I am a tech guy and love my tech stuff.  So I just recently got the HTC incredible for Verizon and I have to say I am loving it so far.  Not only does it do everything my iphone does (I have a lot of devices and phones) but it also syncs with my itunes and now I do not have to carry the iphone or ipod.  Great touch screen, 8 mexa pixel camera, 8 gig internal mem expandable to 32 gigs etc...  So far no complaints...plus it is on the verizon network which means it does one more thing really well for me...Make calls :)  FYI most of the pics in this post were by the phone.

10 Mega Pixel Camera   ***** GIVE AWAY*****

One more thing that arived was my prize from Ironclad Triathlon.
My 10 mega pixel camera arrived.  So since I got it for free and since I love going to other sites and seeing giveaways I am planning on giving this away :).  I just need to check with the wife to make sure she does not want it before I make it official.  More on that in another post
Today's Run
Also my hill training for Rhode Island has been getting better.  I recently found a spot that is great for hill training that one of my team members told me about.  Now I just drive about 5-10 minutes to a local park and am able to get some serious hills in.  Rhode Island has a huge hill on the run course and since it is a loop you need to do it twice so I am trying to make sure I get my hill preparation in.  Here is the most recent work out from this morning:

Happy Training and good Luck to everyone racing this weekend!

I saw Bozzone in April at he Texas Pro Championship and the dude is fast. He did the Galveston 70.3 in 3:49 and smashed Lieto on the run - I think he had around 1:09 run - just sick.

I wish we had some hills to train on down here that were local. I could drive an hour and find some but that only works on the weekends.

We have been going to a 6 story tiered parking garage and running up the ramps. It is better than nothing!

And I thought I was a gadget geek (Iphone & HTC)? Your hill workout looks pretty nasty. I don't think I could find hills like that anywhere close to here.

I did not know you could post the garmin connect files like that - THANKS!

yeah that garmin connect attachment...what did you click on to get that...and how did you get it into your post...I am new to the 310XT. Thanks for the info!!!

Jeff- Wow that is insanely fast! Actually the tier parking sounds like a great idea! Not to mention with the heat you guys have at least it might be a shaded run as well.

Pete - I use my CTO role to justify all my tech gadgets :) Mac air, iphone, htc, etc...

To get the garmin connect wizard:
1. http://connect.garmin.com/ and log in of course
2. Select any activity you want to look at.
3. Under the map of the activity there should be a menu with the following options : Share | Embed | Export etc... Click embed
4. It will then gerate code for you to copy and paste on any blog.

And there you have.

Now that you have had the computrainer for a little while could you give a quick follow up - is it everything that you hoped it to be?

Whitarican June 9, 2010 7:51 PM

Tri-james I love my computrainer for a few reasons. I live in the north East and when weather is bad (snow, too cold etc...) this is a great option to have, so no matter what I needed a trainer. The question is did I need this one. So here are some quick pro cons
Pros:
1. IT has all the actual ironman courses and tons of half ironman and other courses pre loaded. You can actually say I want to do ironman florida, placid etc.. and ride the actual course. Heck I even rode through central park one day on the trainer. So if you have a big race to prep for having this allows you to ride the actual course (grade hills etc..) and feel very prepared.
2. I looked at other trainers and the fact that this caluclate power was huge.
3. They have pre set trainings so you can focus on hill training or time trial or even rolling hills etc..and you do not need to manual adjust resistance.
4. You can build your own course.
5. The resistance changes based on the course and you can visually see the hill coming and it actually feels like you are climbing a hill :) or going down it. I love the visual aspect of seeing the hills and feeling it. It even shows the grade you are current doing so you know ok this is a 5% grade.

Cons:
1. Costs! If I could go back in time I would have tried to buy on ebay first.
2. Every once in a while it does not pick up my heart rate signinal and I have to play around with it.
3. and that is it!

Just in case you have not seen it this has to be one of the better reviews on it:
http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2009/02/in-depth-computrainer-review.html

So bottom line is I love it and would just try and buy it off ebay if possible first.
